Situated in a picturesque lakeside area it is one of the most popular tourist attractions of the country. You’ll get an up-close look at Eastern Europe’s only insular castle and learn why it’s remained one of the most-visited historical sites in Lithuania. Lake Galve has 22 islands and one of them houses Trakai castle – you will get a chance to see it from the deck of a boat while enjoying a lovely summer breeze and tasting ‘kibinai’ (traditional pastries filled with meat and onion, popular with the Karaite ethnic minority).

Professional local guide will also provide you with the history of Karaites—a Turkish ethnic group that is the country’s smallest minority, with fewer than 300 members living in the nation. The tour concludes with a return trip to Vilnius.

We invite you to learn about Vilnius through the eyes of Ričardas Gavelis. Ričardas Gavelis – lithuanian prose writer, playwright, publicist, physicist. One of the most prominent representatives of Lithuanian postmodernism. The work is bold, provocative, making one rethink national and political identity. His book “Vilnius Poker” is regarded as one of the most important texts written about Vilnius.

Many people view this book as symbol of liberation from the Soviet era and an example of creative freedom. The collection of MO Museum and documentaries of various periods reveal the rebellious and silenced spirit of the era.

This 700th anniversary edition of the novel “Vilnius Poker” will be on display at the MO Museum. It will tell the story of the city of Vilnius from its past to its present, and examine its place in the world. The exhibition is a critical look at the city’s future, and will be visualized in a way that is still relevant today.
